Iran’s ‘House of Fortune’ wins two noms at Jersey Shore fest

Iranian short film ‘House of Fortune’ has succeeded to win two nominations at the 2021 Jersey Shore Film Festival (JSFF) in the US.

Directed by Adel Mashouri, the 16-minute Iranian flick grabbed the nom for Best Middle East Narrative as well as the Short High Intensity Drama at the American screening event.

‘House of Fortune’ tells the story of a young girl who falls in a huge trouble on the night of her wedding.

Shot inside a small wooden box, ‘House of Fortune’ is a minimal work which has been performed by the actor using a lighter and a mobile phone.

Mashouri’s short film was previously screened at the 8th Panamanian International Film Festival in Los Angeles (PIFF/LA) and the 2021 Crossroads International Short Film Festival (CISFF) in Turkey.

Established in 2006, the annual Jersey Shore Film Festival (JSFF) is an opportunity for interaction among filmmakers and those attached to the film industry.

The JSFF showcases the best contemporary films from around the world.

The 2021 edition of the festival was held on November 25-30.
